Baby Fever

Every spring I get a little bit of baby fever. This year is perfect because one of my dearest friends is having a baby so I will get lots of love and cuddles pretty soon.  Here is the gender neutral card I made today for baby. I followed the sketch over at CAS(E) this sketch.  I'm also entering it over at One Crazy Stamper (everything goes challenge) where I purchased most of my copic collection.

Mixed Media Cards

Have you ever seen a blog and fell in love instantly? It happened to me this morning when I was looking at my morning blogs trying to pick which challenges to play along with. Well a card caught my eye on Retro Sketches and it was made by a guest designer over at Cardz 4 Guyz so I popped over to her blog The Damsel of Distressed Cards and saw her tutorial on how she made the card. I just knew I had to dig out my distress paints, stains, embossing powder and sprays and see if I could try this technique. My first attempt is this card. I applied too much stain and you can hardly see the underneath colors (Spun Sugar and Chipped Sapphire) After every thing dried I grabbed this imagine stamp and used some wink of stella grey and clear to add some bling but it wasn't enough for my liking so I found my cracked pistachio marker and spray and added a little color to this card.

My second card I used much less brushed pewter distress stain and lightly sprinkled the embossing powder for a much nicer look for this technique. You can see bits of pink and sapphire through the stain. I dry embossed with a flower folder so then I went digging for a sentiment that worked. I embossed the Friends with purple embossing powder and "how beautiful a day can be when friendship touches it." is embossed with pewter.

I'm so happy to have found this blog to follow and look forward in stepping out of my clean and layered look to try out some more mixed media on cards.

Short post but now we are off to pick up dd from Kindergarten.  Have a great evening everyone and thanks for stopping by!

Other fun find while cleaning was this My Favorite Things stamp. Her name is Sprinkles on Top Jolinne. I'm entering this card over at The Card Concept (Cupcakes) my style is clean and layered and I was inspired by the pink cupcake with the soft blue background. Wrapped in love

I'm in the process of cleaning and purging my half of the basement for my new desk. I'm finding stamps that had been hiding in boxes like this one from My Favorite things called "wrapped in love" As I lifted it out of the box, I instantly was reminded of my mother in law who loves to shop to our family. So I decided to create a Christmas Card just for her. I'm adding this card to two challenges today. Merry Monday Christmas Challenge to use gifts and the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches.

Menu Planner

Menu Planning:
We are on the go all the time.  Only one day this month that we stayed home the whole day! April looks just as busy so I wanted to make supper time a little bit easier and reduce the drive thru visits.

I purchased this Chalkboard on sale at Michael's a couple weeks ago. Finally got around to adding the silver vinyl today. I cut the letters using Design Space and my Cricut Explore.

After applying the vinyl I realized that I had extra space at the bottom which looked odd to me. So in order to fix my error I searched and found an apron, pot and oven in Design Space. I changed the colors and size, flattened the images and used the print and cut feature. After that I added some magnets.

My plan is to add recipe cards for that day's meal and or my grocery list so that I can find it as I'm heading down the stairs to leave for the store.

And here it is hanging in place beside the pantry.

Weekend get away!

We had a great weekend get away in the Rocky Mountains! We rented a great condo and I wanted to mail a quick thank you card to the couple who own the place.

Wanda Tensen's photo.

I saw a card on Pinterest and new I had to give it a try. I have had this bicycle in my stash for years and recently saw it while cleaning out cupboards. So I inked it up with versa mark and heat embossed with white. Added an Thank You tag to the top and some butterflies flying out to the basket full of flowers. I used the color combo for The Challenge #27 over at Always Playing with Paper.

My inspiration came from this card.  Love the big basket and the other cards on this blog so please follow the link and take a peek.

He has risen!

Getting started on my Easter cards.

Created this one using the colors and sketch over at Always Playing with Paper

Wanda Tensen's photo.

I already had the orange out from my robot birthday card so I simply used the scraps from that to create this card. I placed the flags behind the circle instead of in front like the sketch & I hope that's ok. I embossed the panel with SU wood embossing folder, the cross is from Michaels $1.50 stamp and the sentiment is from Verve Stamps.

Beep Beep is robot for Happy Birthday

I went out side my comfort box with this sketch from Freshly Made Sketches and color challenge from Color Me. It took me awhile to get it together but here it is:

Cards for Annie and Tyler

Time change today- Life's joke on parents. It' going to be a long day!

We are off to my besties sons birthday party this afternoon. They are currently renovating a farm house for their family. Space is limited right now. Both boys have lots of toys and clothes. So we decided to do a life experience instead as our gift. We are gifting him a trip to the bowling lanes with our family. My friends bday is a few days after her sons as well so it's a double gift.

Here is her card.

Dance like no one is watching!

A quick by very meaningful craft this morning. I purchased these shadow frames awhile ago on sale at Michael's. Yesterday while cleaning up toys and dress up clothes my daughter found her very first pair of dance shoes and was a bit sad they didn't fit her anymore. They were a special gift from her Grannie and Gramps. I felt like they needed a special place in her room. So since I was awake at 3am and then out of bed at 5am I figured I would head to the craft space and wait for the kiddo's to wake up. P.S. this never happens!!!!!

Here's what I came up with! The lighting is terrible (it's still pitch black outside) I used BoBunny Isabella paper, a svg file that I uploaded into Cricut Design Space, and pink vinyl from the Cricut Sample Vinyl Pack.

You're Awesome!

I really like todays sketch over at Tuesday Morning Sketches. It's a great way to use up some of the designer paper that I keep collecting. I used some of the dream pop collection from CTMH for my circles. The banner is in place of ribbon, it's actually washi tape with the sentiment stamped right on it. (I saw this technique on another blog on glitter tape, which I will be trying out soon.) Colored the bear stamp from Penny Black with copics. There was a good layer of dust on the copic container, feels good to have them out again.

,

Here's a photo of the copics used.

Also this morning I heard about Treasure Box Designs I stopped by and down loaded the weekly freebie, this cute little girl doll is for my oldest child. My little guy is home today with me and he wanted a "boy one" so he sat on my knee and we searched in design space and he picked this pirate.

Shaker card #2

If you saw my blog yesterday you will understand that I'm currently obsessed with shaker cards. I'm looking at blue berry containers in my fridge, the bottom of a water bottle, Ziploc bags, little containers all over...

Todays card was created using a portion these brad containers from way back when from CTMH.

When I first looked at this I could envision a gift box for a birthday. But when I saw that Merry Monday's card them for this week was green and red and I already had Yuletide paper pack out on my desk I figured there has to be a way to create this shaker as a Christmas Card.

Supplies used: Yuletide design paper, cream card base, plastic container, glitter and bits from the dollar store, red shiny twine, scallop border punch, score tape and foam tape, gold sequins, Jesus the true gift of Christmas is from Verve and embossed in Gold.

And here's a view to show the dimension of the card:

If you haven't already, please pop over to Merry Monday and leave some love for the great design team and others that have played along. Getting feedback on cards is so rewarding.

Shaker Card

In November or December my friend Emma taught our card group how to create shaker cards. Ever since I've been thinking of making one but just haven't had a chance. Well yesterday my friend Sara asked if I had any ideas for all her extra sequins (left over from her daughter's bubble guppy birthday banner) right away I said SHAKER CARDS! So that got both of our creative juices flowing. Here's my first shaker card for my nephew who turns 17 soon. I'm adding this card over at Seize the Birthday: Masculine Card.

Supplies used: Slate paper with white card base. Slate and ruby ink. Sequins from dollar store (8 colors for $1) Numbers are from CTMH and balloons and the # stamp are from Unity Stamps. The shaker was created using a stitched rectangle from Simon Says Stamps, Dimensionals, score tape and a cut up ZIPLOC BAG!!!! How awesome is that!?! I love using ever day stuff in the craft room.
