Bird House

Yesterday was a happy/sad day. My favorite Scrapbook store had their 5 year anniversary sale.
60% off!!!
The store is for sale and hopefully the new deal goes through and they stay open. If not I will be doing most of my shopping on line, the city closest to me only has a Michael's and Walmart for crafting supplies. I may have blown my scrapbook budget out of the water yesterday but I got some amazing items for a great price.

Today's card uses three products I picked up yesterday. The card itself is a from a super value pack of 250 cards. I picked up a white and ivory pack for $8. The Merry Christmas stamp (Memory Box) and the stickles (Black and Clear)

I used this weeks sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches and Merry Monday's Christmas challenge to use houses on our cards.

The bird is cut out of cranberry paper using a die cut and the big shot. The bird house is pieced together with snowhaven paper (CTMH) and used cartridge Jolly Holidays to cut it out on the Cricut.

I'm please to say I'm well on my way for next years Christmas cards! Hopefully I can start writing on them in November this year and get them in the mail.

LOVE

I have been blogging off and on since 2009 and I'm still amazed at how quickly I get swept away in blog land. The other day I was looking at Freshly Made Sketches blog and fell in love with Cindy Lowell's card so I popped over to her blog to leave some love and noticed that she had another post that day for the Card Concept so I scrolled down and clicked on that blog and WOW!!!! I fell in love with this challenge immediately. So instead of doing the chores and getting a grocery list ready for the day I decided to play along.

My style is Clean & Layered.

I was inspired by the wood grain and the word love.  I wanted to create cards using project life cards which are from the Dreaming Edition (lots of soft colors) and I knew I had some scraps of wood grain in my bin so it was perfect. Used my cricut to cut out the "loves" added some red cardstock and glitter tape, punch out some tiny hearts using the owl punch from Stampin Up. And to finish the cards off I used clear and gold wink of stella to add the glitter. I love that they are both flat enough for my kids to mail to Grandparents without extra postage.

Thank you cards

We received so much love and support from family and friends the last few weeks. Oma's funeral was on Tuesday and we wanted to send some special thank you cards to those who helped with the service. My mother in law has asked for 6 cards so I thought I would start with hers first. I have had these plastic Thank You signs since my first child was born 5.5 years ago and knew I wanted to use them up. When I saw the Freshly Made Sketch #169 I knew it was perfect to use. My OCD insisted I center the thank you under the circle, I hope that's ok for the challenge.  I found some scrap embossed pink paper in my bin that worked well with the grey zip strips. I added a butterfly stamp glittered with a clear wink of stella brush and some stickles down the body of the butterfly.

With Sympathy and sadness

Our dear sweet Oma passed away at the age of 94 on January 7th. I'm so thankful that my hubby was home for the holidays and we were able to be with Oma in the hospital during her last couple of weeks.

This is the card I made for our parents and aunt's and uncle's.  The tulip stamp is from the Stamp Barn and I used Copics to color it in. (G43, G46, R20 and R22) I added some Platium liquid pearls to the center of the tulips. Once that dried I fussy cut, which I absolutely do not enjoy at all :) I used some white cardstock and ran it through my big shot with a swirls embossing folder. The sentiment is from Unity Stamps and its mounted on Crisp Cantaloupe cardstock from SU.

Seize the Birthday - Getting Sketchy

Today's card is based on a sketch over at Seize the Birthday. This year, I'm challenging myself to use up some of my stock pile (hoard, collection, etc) of patterned paper. This sketch was perfect! I was able to make 3 cards with this sketch and finished off the plaid paper from the Timberline paper pack. I also used some Lagoon cardstock, gems, chipboard arrows (Heidi Swapp) and chipboard from CTMH. Sprayed the chipboard with Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Mustard and Tropicana Teal. The sentiments used were from You Mean the World to Me. I made two of these birthday cards and a thank you card for our pastor.

Happy 41st Birthday!

My hubby turned 41 yesterday and here is the card that I made with my 5 year olds help.

We used Freshly Made Sketches #167 and we would like to add it to the Seize the Birthday who challenged us to create a birthday card with a PARTY theme. I thought fireworks for the New Year's Day birthday was fitting.

We mostly used Close to my Heart products for this card. Inks are Sunflower (retired) and Pacifica. Stamp set is called Kaboom it was a stamp of the month. Added some sparkly gems for the center of each firework.
