Christmas Canvas for the kids

I love mixed media, it was so much for to create this canvas for my daughters bedroom door with her talented "help" Keep in mind she's 4. lol. Her imaginary friend is Peso the Penguin and when I found this patterned paper at Giggles and Scribbles I knew I had to buy it for her. The penguin is cut out from my cricut machine using the cartridge Create a Critter 2. I used up so glitter paper that I have been collecting (not hoarding) With her help we have a few bubbles under the DSP but that's ok with me because it adds charater.

And here's the canvas for our son's bedroom door. He's 2 years old and LOVES neigh-neighs! Anything that resembles a horse is a neigh-neigh, lol. This reindeer is also cut off the Create a Critter 2 cartridge.

Thanks for stopping by today. I love hearing from other crafters and seeing your work too. So if you happen to comment I'll be sure to visit your blog as well.

Merry Monday #83

This weeks challenge over at Merry Monday is to use strips, red, chocolate brown with stars or hearts. I had so many ideas but had a hard time with the stars or hearts part of the challenge... Here's what I came up with...

Used a candy cane embossing folder on real red cs, edgelit on the ivory with red twine and a chipboard star (colored with ink and then cinnamon stickles) The merry and bright stamp comes from Unity Stamps Ocotober kit of the month. Used chalk talk framelits on the ivory and brown tag.

Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving a comment. I'm off to make lunch for my muchkins and then I'll be back to comment on the cards created.

Oh Christmas Tree...

Today's card was created for two challenges. First the sketch from Sketch Frenzy Friday SFF110813  and also Unity's Friends with Flair

Embossed the card front with snowflakes and used some silver Inka Gold Metallic Rub. A few banners with the new paper from Stampin up. Inked up the trees and sentiment from Unity Stamps October 2013 kit of the month. Oh and my most favorite item is that little bit of glitter to the left of the trees... it's adhesive glitter ribbon from Close to my Heart.

Good Times

I received the best surprise for my birthday this year! I'm heading to Las Vegas for four days with my sister in law. My hubby will be home from work later today and I'm flying out Friday morning. This is my fourth trip to Vegas and I'm just as excited this trip as the first. I will miss my babies and hubby but know that they will have fun here too. I might even miss the first snow fall of the year.

Anyways enough about that, on to the card I created for my sister in law as a thank you for taking this funfilled trip with me! Card Layout is from this weeks Tuesday Morning Sketch. Created this card using products from Close to my Heart and Stamping up. I used some dsp from SU called Eastern Elegance. Cardstock is slate grey (CTMH), whispering white and coastal cabana (SU) Inks are slate grey and coastal cabana. I added some ribbon instead of punching a border on the sentiment and added a resin flower to the center of the paper flowers.

Merry Monday #74 and Tuesday Morning Sketches 3215

Another fun Christmas card to add to my stash! I think my total is up to 40 cards now.
Todays card is for Merry Monday Challenge: to use green and white with woodgrain and Tuesday Morning Sketches! I dug out some garden green and pistaschio pudding. Embossed this Santa with versa mark and white powder. Using spellbinders circles and scallops around him, mounted on white cardstock that was run through the big shot with the wood grain folder from Stampin up. Used word window and modern label punches for the sentiment and added 6 pearls around the edges.

Please pop over to Merry Monday and Tuesday Morning Sketches and check out the great cards posted there! Thanks for stopping by.

Christmas Penguin

I can't take any credit on the design of this card as I got the idea straight out of the current CTMH catalogue (page 9) The garland over lay is cut out using the newest cricut cartridge ARTBOOKING.  Other details about my card are paper is from a 4x6 creative pad called snow fun from Pebbles Inc, Stamps are from Unity Stamp Co. (Christmas Wishes), Slate Ink and Strawberry Slush Marker, Smoothie Baker's Twine.

Princess Card

I created this card for our little friends 3rd birthday party today. She is having a princess themed party so I knew I had to use the paper doll cartridge for the cricut. All the paper on this card is out of my scrap bin. I used my xron to attach all the pieces. Off to wrap the gift and pack up the kids :) Have a great day everyone!

Dynamic Duos #66-Light Aqua and Black with the OPTION of Embossing

This card started as a thank you for our principal who did an amazing children's message at Church this week. Do you think it turned out manly or girly? I am undecided and need your opinions.

I finally got a minute to play with chalk talk using black and cool caribbean. I inked up a Lifestyle Crafts embossing folder with "cool caribbean" on white paper and ran it through my big shot. Using dimensionals on the banner and button to pop them up. Love this color combo and will be entering it over at Dynamic Duos. If you haven't already hop over to their blog and take a peek.

Trim the tree

Christmas in July!

I am in full swing getting prepared for Christmas. I have a few projects on the go right now. Making advent calendars for each child, Christmas throw pillows, aprons for Grannie and Oma with kids handprints making a tree with star at top.

My goal all year is to work on Christmas cards and there's a great blog that's been helping me meet this goal. Merry Monday is having a month long challege for July to create Christmas cards. And since I just received a Christmas Cricut Cartridge called trim the tree I just had to play along. I've also entered this card over at Crafty Hazelnuts Christmas Challenge. This will be my first of many post over there I'm sure.

I've used a base of real red and a pattern paper from Michael's. The focal point is a layer of real red, white and then glitter white and real red creating the candy cane and Santa. I love that the glitter is all contained, oe of my pet peeves is opening a card and getting glitter EVERYWHERE!

Fairy Tales Bell from C.C. Designs

Good Morning,

I finally had the chance to take a copic class to learn the skin and hair techniques. Chelsey at Personal Touch Scrapbooking is amazing. Pop over to her blog if you have a second to see the cards we created in class

I was so thrilled with the class and the secrets I learnt, I came home and started stamping and coloring. I have some Greeting Farm, La-La Land, Swalk and CC Designs all in my work in proccess folder. I can't wait to finish those cards up.

Todays card is using Bell from CC Designs out of the Fairy Tales line. I apologize for the terrible photo. I ended up snapping a quick photo with my phone before I mailed it to a friend. The sketch is from Tuesday Morning Sketches #208. I was able to use up some scraps from a retired Stampin up paper pack. Paper piecing the headband, outfit and boots. Copics used for skin: E000, E00, E11, R20 Copics used for hair E70, E74, E77.

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog.

Buzzing with good wishes

Buzzing with good wishes!

Bees have a special place in my heart. My father had bee hives with a friend years ago. I remember chewing on the sweet honey comb, oh the memories... ok back to the card. I am loving all the hexagon shapes available in the craft world. The embosing folder is Stampin Up, the stamp is CTMH, the papers, inks, ribbon and twine are a mixture from the two companies. And my new favorite is the die cuts that I snagged off of scrapbooksteals.com.

Queen for the day #171 and Dynamic Duos #60

Good Morning to all my crafty friends,

We are having a beautiful day, the sun is shining! We have a fun filled day with story time at the library, play date with great friends and then a sleep over at Oma & Opa's while I take a copic class. My four year old giggled when I told her I was going to a class to learn how to color. :)

Any ways I have a card to show you. Thats why your here right? ok here it is...

My inspiration for this card came from two sources. Dynamic Duos #60 (colors are Summer Starfruit and Gumball Green) and the Queen for the Day challenge.

Faith has a great gallery and this is the card of her's that I choose to honor her time as Queen.

Thanks so much for taking a look and leaving a comment.

Opa turns 65 years old!

Used kraft paper for the base of card. Tractor is cut out with Cricut Cartridge called "BEEP, BEEP" using black and real red from SU and some shiny silver from Michaels for the grill, fender and hubs.

Opa is a huge Case lover so the inside reads, "if it's not red keep it in the shed"

and this card was created at our monthly stamin up meeting. Here's the link to Trish's blog with the orginal card. I left the flower off and inked up so chipboard numbers. Having some computer issues so it's posted on its side.

wishing you a very happy birthday

Playing around with some DSP and the stripes embossing folder. Sentiment is from Verve Stamps.

Grad card for Mac!

Feels like just yesterday the first great grandchild on my fathers side was born. And now here he is graduating from high school and getting ready to set off on the next adventure of his life. Studying to become a paramedic. And because he lives three provinces away I need to get this in the mail ASAP.

The card sketch is over at Freshly Made Sketches this week. I was so inspired by Allisa's card with the banner in the top corner I followed her layout. The black dotted paper is from Bo Bunny (Natural Necessities Double Dot Designs) the grey paper is from the amazing Dream Pop paper pack from Close to my Heart. The hat stamp is from SU Sketch an Event (2002) and the Congrats is from CTMH Kudos.

For Bonnie - Our Queen of the Day!

Queen of the Day is one of my favorite challenges over at Splitcoast. This week Bonnie is our Queen and here's a link to her beautiful gallery of cards.

I had the hardest time picking a card to cas, after many minutes I finally picked this one to case:

And here is my take on it:

I tried so hard to use papers for this card but I just couldn't get things to co-ordinate. So I used Honeyomb Flair from Close to My Heart. Also love love love the hollycock zipper ribbon. The other stamps used are from Unity Stamps.

Here's a peek at the inside of the card:

Buzzing with good wishes CC421

This card was created for the color challenge over at Splitcoast. The color challenge is Basic Black, Calypso Coral and Baja Breeze. I had paper colors but only black ink. I thought about doing a siloutte card by cutting out an image on the cricut. But as I went to set up the machine I noticed the honeycomb embossing folder laying there waiting for some love. So I switched gears and created this card for my mom.

Stamps: Quick Cards - Bumble Bee A1135
Paper: Calyps Coral, Baja Breeze, Basic Black
Ink: Basic Black
Accessories: Natural Trim, Coral Bakers Twine Honey Comb Embossing Folder

First Card using Secret Garden stamp/framelits

I can't believe this is my first card using these stamp set and matching framelits. I fell in love with it the first time I saw it in the spring mini. March was such a crazy month in our personal life that I didn't have much crafting time. Mother's Day is coming pretty quickly (I need some mailing time as well) So this morning while daughter watches Oasis and son is sleeping I decided to pull out the set and look on Splitcoast for some inspiration. I found this card and decided to case it. One day I will find my mojo and create again but for now I case. If you love this card as much as I did please leave some love for patstamps2001.

Supplies: Kraft, Yellow, Teal papers from scrap bin. Lagoon Ink used on sentiment, sponging, and flowers. Secret Garden Stamp and Framelits, Finishing Touches Edgelits, Burlap Ribbon and Bottons.

Retro Sketches #55

During my second pregnancy I joined an amazing mommies group on facebook. We are a group of 84 ladies that were all due in the September. The Alberta mommies and toddlers had a gathering in Calgary on St. Patrick's Day and this is the special card I made for our host.  There was a bit of a snow storm that turned some away from the travel but not me, I love our flex & winter tires.

Papers: Wild Wasabi, Pacific Point, White, Beyond the Garden DSP
Extras: Pacific Point ink, Decorative Label punch, Green Ribbon (dollar store) Scallop edgelit (MFT)
And the wonderful sketch is from Retro Sketches 55 my inspiration came from Laurie card, although I did have to re-locate my bow as it was to heavy over the sentiment for my liking. Thanks for taking a look and leaving a comment. I really appreciate all the comments!

Roxy - Happy Birthday

I have to share my newest blog that I am following. A friend of mine had pinned a card box that caught my eye and when I went over to the blog I fell in love. I love Vicki's style and that she's a close to my heart consultant. I've been collecting Close to my heart and Stampin up paper to scrapbook for YEARS. It's so nice to get some great ideas to use up the leftovers on cards.

Today's card is a case of Vicki's card made with Clementine papers click here to see.

I switched it up a bit to use some scraps of Roxy paper for my dear friend Sara. Roxy was her favorite paper pack. I changed the ribbon but tried out Vicki's bow technique, love it but will try next time with a ribbon that isn't sattin.

Paper: Roxy (Close to my heart)
Ink: Hollyhock, Basic Black
Ribbon: Black Sattin (dollar store)
Extras: Chip board shape, Cricut, Xron, Sponge, Just Blooms Paper Shapes "Flutter", Rhinestones.

Here is the great sketch over at Seize the Birthday #10 (Masculine Birthday)

And here's my card for this challenge:
This card is for our nephew who turns 15 at the end of the month. Feels like just yesterday when we hurried to the hospital to meet him for the first time! I was able to use my new favorite paper pack from Close to my heart "Later Sk8r" sponged the paper edges with outdoor denim ink. The big gear is cut out with the cricut "Artiste" and the sentiment is an old favorite from "Nursery Bash"

Thanks for looking and leaving a comment!

Merry Monday #51

Good Morning,

My old printer bit the dust and I've purchased a new Epson Stylus NX430 which uses the proper ink to color images with copics. I've been collecting free digi stamps for years and purchased a few along the way. The old printer would not print digis clearly and it would smear if I tried to use a copic marker. So here is my first card using a digi stamp from Whimsy and Stars Studio

Supplies used: SU Festival of Prints paper stack, Cherry Cobbler ink, Yellow Stickles, Copic Markers G14, Y02, R29, R59, Tree Digi Stamp from Whimsy and Stars Studio, Sentiment from Unity Stamps

Close up of the tree to show the stickles on the stars.

This card was created from the Merry Monday challenge. I played by using Red, Digital and Designer Paper for this challenge. Thanks for stopping by and I would love for you to leave a comment if you don't mind. Happy stamping.

Celebrate with hot air baloon...

Pretty sure my little guy is teething or going through a growth spurt. He was so clingy this morning I ran out of time posting this card.

I had made this card using the sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches (which closed at noon today) using this great sketch from Allisa (love her blog) and also using the colors this week over at Dynamic Duos. I couldn't locate any of my pool party cardstock when I was crafting so I ended up using Lacoon from Close to my Heart. I used my cricut to cut out the two layers of hot air baloon, two shapes to mat, tag for sentiment and a few clouds out of scraps. I used the negative space to sponge clouds onto my white cardstock. Added a few brads and voila, a perect birthday card for a special little boy in March.
