Lighthouse SFF122812

Good Morning, I'm always in need of birthday cards and realized my stash is pretty empty right now. Especially in the male department so my challenges will all be birthday cards for awhile.

Here is the card I created this morning for Sketch Frenzy Friday (SFF122812) After seeing this photo I realize that I need to readjust the ribbon. I don't like how funny the left side looks.

My lighthouse stamp is from Loralie Art Stamps (Fair Sea) I used copics E44 on the door and top, C1 & C3 to create shadows on the walls, BG10 & BG000 to create the glow around the light house.  Red copics always give me issues bleeding on my images so today I tried something new and I really like how it turned out. I used my new cherry cobbler stamp pad and an aqua brush to color in the roof.

Ribbon is pool party 1/2" seam binding, button (replacing the sun) is a vintage button handed down to me from my grandmother, paper is from the festival of prints paper stack and left over cherry cobbler pieces from another project.

Here's a photo of the sketch, please hop over to Sketch Frenzy Friday blog and see what the wonderful dt has created. Thanks for stopping by to take a look at my card.

Blocks for Tori

A while ago I purchase two sets of My Mind's Eye Decorative Block Kits from www.scrapbooksteals.com I finally got around to making them for the kids for Christmas. Mason's is not complete yet so I'll post pictures of his later. But here's a peek at Victoria's set.

Receipe:
  • Sand all the rough spots on the wood blocks
  • Paint all the edges with Craft Smart Violet Acrylic Paint
  • Cut 54 1.75" squares from three patterns of Razzleberry Lemonade Designer Series Paper from SU
  • Glue n seal the DSP to wood blocks
  • Apply glitter letters, numbers and flourish designs to the blocks. Two sides have her first name, one side has the numbers 1-9 and the other three include the full alphabet.
  • Glue n seal the blocks again.
Doesn't seem that bad but there was LOTS of drying time involved. Hopefully I can get Mason's done and posted before Christmas. I am using on of my favorite retired paper packs from SU.

We are off to Great Oma's 91st Birthday Party this evening and I totally forgot to make a card. I needed something quick to case with two little ones running around behind me. I quickly came on here and looked up todays Queen of the Day Challenge.
I saw that JDMommy had made this card in honor of our queen Stef!

Here's a link to Stef's card.

I quickly pulled out some retired yellow, embossed the flower, glued some ribbon down punch out two decoritive labels, cut one in half and stamped the happy birthday sentiment on the yellow dsp.

I love it. Thanks to both ladies for the inspiration. Now off to cook a quick supper before we leave.

Decorations

This card is my attempt and creating a card for three challenges. Paper Pretties, Dynamic Duos and One Crazy Stamper

Paper Pretties challenge this week is to Create a Christmas Creation
Dynamic Duos color challenge is Black and Gold (with a music option that I totally forgot about)
One Crazy Stamper had two options follow their sketch or create a "Holiday" themed card.

I used a new embossing folder that I picked up today Crafts-Too "Decorations" used a versamark pen and gold embossing powder on the ornaments. SU's framelits apothecary accents were used for the tag, the sentiment comes from Unity Stamps and is also embossed with Gold.

Thanks for looking at my card today.

Outta this world

Taking a break from Christmas Cards. We have a few little friends having birthdays early in the new year and I thought I should get a head start on them.

The robot and banner are from CTMH - Outta This World. I cut the robot and banner out using the Artiste Cricut Cartridge, then stamped with Indian Corn Blue and Honey. YAY for no fussy cutting!!!! Paper pack is CTMH - Stardust (an oldy but a goody)

I used this sketch from Sketch Frenzy Friday

Christmas Wreath

Braided Ribbon Wreath! Saw a card on Splitcoast on one of the new technique challenges. When I searched You Tube for tutorials I couldn't believe how many popped up. Here's a link to the one I liked, Christina shows us step by step how to create this braid. As you may know I resently reorganized my crafting area. I gathered all my ribbon together and I have three photoboxes full of ribbon. I'm trying my hardest to use some up and I'm happy to say with this project I've finally finished off the Stampin Up Old Olive 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon I purchased 10 YEARS ago. Also used up some Basic Grey red rhinestones and some dsp from Stampin Up (dated 2006). My new item on this card is the embossing folder, Baby's Breath from Cuttlebug.

Christmas Joy

I don't know about you but I "collect" Christmas paper. I will buy a sheet here and a sheet or two there. Over the years I've got quite the collection. My problem is I've been collecting greens and reds and our house is decorated in blues and silver for the holidays so I find that I'm not using the paper in my scrapbooks.

So I decided to use some up on cards and gifts this year. I've made 8 cards using various dsp and will use the same paper to cover empty pringle containers that we will fill with cookies for friends.

Ok so here's the tri-fold card.
Supplies used: DSP unknown vendor, white cs, Spellbinders to cut shape out. Slap stick Christmas Joy stamp. Gumball Green ink from SU, three gems on the swirls of the stamped image.

 And here's an open view

Instructions: (for you and myself if I want to recreat these next year.) Take a 12x12 sheet of dsp. Cut at 5.5". Score at 2",4",8" and 10" and crease your score lines. Turn your paper and score at 2.5" at the top and bottom of sheet. Cut the paper from the 4" score line to the 2.5" marker on the left. That triangle will then be fliped over and glued to the bottom right corner of the card. Repeat this for the other corner. Cut the paper from the 8" score line to the 2.5 marker on the right. Flip that triangle over and glue to the bottom left of card. The white cards stock inside is 3.25 x 4.75. Tip for the shap on the front, apply adhesive to the bottom left of shape so that the card can be opened fully.

Evergreen

Today I'm playing with new and old stuff and created 4 of these .

My new items used on this card are stamp set EVERGREEN from SU and gumball green ink pad.
Old items from my "collection" are Jillibean Soup ribbon, Sizzix Snowflake embossing folder, flower brads (used as stars) and little bitty sparkles from CTMH.

If you love this card as much as I do please leave some love for Carla over on her blog.

Merry Christmas

My main focus lately has been Christmas cards. Today I opened my Christmas box of stamps and found these tags embossed and mounted on the red card stock. I'm really trying to use up some older items on cards this year. Ribbon, brads, buttons that have been collecting dust. So I grabbed a Christmas paper pack and found this red paper with black snowflakes on it. Amazingly the reds matched pretty good! (I've got such issues with reds not matching!) pulled out some black ribbon and ta-da! Three great cards created in minutes for my husbands co-workers.

I've also posted this card over on Splitcoast for the queen of the day challenge that my friend Trish hosts. I haven't been able to play for the last six weeks so I'm challenging myself to play along with this weekly challenge until Christmas.

Here's my card.

And here's the link to Chris' card that insired my layout

Brother-in-law turns 40!

Today was the perfect day! Hubby went grocery shopping, I made some soup, chili and a few Christmas cards. I started making the four season welcome signs for gifts. (post about that later) And then it dawned on me, Norm turns 40 on November 1st! I can't believe how quickly time is passing by. Seems like just yesterday he turned 25. Since both kids were napping (very rare occasion) I decided to make his birthday card. I wanted to make something manly without using stamps. So I hooked up my cricut and here's what I created. Hope you like it.

Details: Sahara Sand, Marina Mist, Not Quite Navy Cardstock from SU, the designer paper is also from SU but it's so old I don't have the name of it. Early Espresso Ribbon. Score Pal and foam dots were used to create 3D stars.

Thanks for looking!

Ornament card - CAS from Allison

I love getting great ideas from other blogs. One of my favorite blogs to visit is Rocky Mountain Paper Crafts. Allison has tonnes of great cards using mostly Close to my Heart products. I copied my card from this post on her blog. Please please please if you love this card, take a quick second and head to her blog and leave her some love for this card.

I changed the colors from greens to pink/burgandy and used pearls instead of gems. Also I realized that I do not own any GLITTER! (this is crazy and will be correcting this issue ASAP!) I loved this card so much I made 8. My christmas card count is now up to 25! Thanks Allison!

may your season sparkle!

We've had our first snow fall of the year and I am in the mood to create Christmas cards. I got the call from our photographer that our family photos are back. I can't wait to see them and get them printed for our cards this year.

Here is the card I created this morning while the rest of the family is sleeping. I love "mommy" time!
Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek at my card. Please feel free to leave a comment I really do enjoy hearing what others think of my cards.

This card was made for two challenges, this weeks sketch at Sketch Frenzy Friday and the color challenge at Dynamic Duos.

The snowflake rhinestones is from me & my big ideas. I purchased a big Christmas pack off of our local scrapbook swap and buy group. The paper pack used on this card is from Close to my Heart called Wonderland. The stamp is from Unity Stamp Co.'s  November 2010 kit of the month.

Queen for the Day 130

This card is for Loll who was choosen as our Queen of the Day over at Splitcoaststampers.

I used my brand new window die from Poppy Stamps. The leaves and bird are from Stampin Up. The blue strip is from Joy Crafts! It cuts and embosses. Also the white embossing is the Victoria cuttlebug embossing folder.

I'm so in love with all the gorgous cards I've seen over the months using the window dies. I can't wait to recreate some of them for Christmas cards this year. Perhaps I should have gotten the grand window die as well :) for the big window scenes. What do you think?

Tuesday Morning Sketch 161 - friends are the best

Good Morning!

I'm so happy to be playing along this week with Tuesday Morning Sketches. This week the sketch is sponsered by Raisin Boat - stamp rental. What a great idea! and the best part is they will ship to Canada. I will definetly be looking into this further, once I'm home from holidays.

The sketch today:

My Card:

Paper: Basic Grey Olivia & SU Whisper White & Black
Stampin Up Jewels Basic Rhinestone
Cricut Cartridge: Home Decor (butterflies) & CTMH Artiste (circles)

After cutting out the butterflies I ran them through my xyron create a sticker (right side down) and applied the pink glitter to the sticker side. This process creates a full glittered piece with out having glitter all over myself & house.

Happy Dirtday!

Today's cards are completely cased from Christine over at Handstamped from the Heart. If you love my copy please pop over to her blog and leave her some love for her creation.  I'm always looking for ideas for "masculine" cards. I love this layout as it has lots of different layers and tecture without too much bulk for sending these in the mail. The truck is one stamp colored with markers and spritzed with water. I really like how the blue truck turned out with the worn out look.

2TC20 - cupcake

Good Morning! Finally got my computer fixed and am back online. I've missed playing alone with my favorite online challenges. This post is for Twisted Tuesday, the twist this week is not to use ribbon or trim. HUGE challenge for me. I love ribbon.

Here's my card:

The designer paper and cardstock is from Stampin Up. Yesterday I received the new cricut cartridge from Close to my heart (Artiste) the stamps used on this card were included with the cartridge. Since I couldn't use ribbon for this challenge I added some stickles to the cupcake top. And here's a peek at the inside of the card.

And here's the sketch given by Twisted Tuesday. Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek.

Retro Sketch #22

How fitting to use a "retro" sketch for my dad's 60th birthday card! It feels like just yesterday we celebrated his 55th. Must mean I'm getting older as well if the numbers are becoming a blur.

Our local scrapbook store lost their lease and is quickly closing the doors. I was able to sneek in a get a few goodies at GREAT discounts. This sail boat is from Loralie Designs - Fair Sea stamp set. I used ruby red, midnite muse, whispering white and gumball green card stock with some midnite muse ribbon.

I decided to give my copics a rest today and used some Stampin Up markers to color.
  • sahara sand
  • close to cocoa
  • chocolate chip
  • ruby red
  • brocade blue
  • gumball green (my new favorite color)
Thanks for stopping by to take a look, here's the link to retro sketches.

Tuesday Morning Sketches #157

My whole family is heading  to Rolla, BC (8 hour drive) this weekend to celebrate the towns 100th birthday which my dad's grandparents settled. My grandfather was born in South Dakota and at 3 months old the family started their journey north west. He was three years old when they reached the Peace Country and choose their land. I so wish he was still with us to celebrate this weekend.

While we are there for the weekend we are also celebrating with my mom's side of the family as my grandma is turning 80 at the end of August. I was asked to do a couple pages in 8x8 of my family for a scrapbook we will give together as a gift. I finished those last night around 11pm and worked on a card this morning. I found a great sketch over at Tuesday Morning Sketches that I used.

Most of the paper used on this card was from the scrap bin. It might be basic grey but I am not positive. The shapes and numbers were cut out from "close to my heart - art philosophy" cricut cartridge and the pearls are from Stampin Up.

my heart sings! (Freshly Made Sketches #44)

Another great sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches!
I flipped the sketch on it's side, I was going to mount the images on circles but when I layed it out there was way to much white! So I used the negative pieces and added some ribbon.

The little robot is from Imaginisce and the my heart sings stamp is from Unity. Cardstock, inks and ribbon are from Stampin Up. (Gumball Green and Midnight Muse)

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Hip Hip Horray (QFTD120)

Good Morning Crafters!

I'm hiding in the basement this morning making birthday cards. I have about 60 first birthday cards to make for August to October. I joined a fb group while pregnant with my son and have really gotten close with these ladies and their babies.

My card is also for the Queen of the Day Challenge over on Splitcoast. This week Angela is our queen and this is her card I choose as my inspiration. I love the chevron pattern paper and I recently got the dotty for you paper pack from Close to my heart. I'm in love with the color Lagoon. I think it's great for either a boy or a girl.

This is a photo of my card with Angela's in the background. I love the layout and the shaped sentiment on her card. I used my sentiments on the inside as you can see in the photo below.
And here is a close up of my card. Some details are: All products are from Close to my heart except the yellow ribbon, I believe that is from Stampin up. The label shape is actually chip board. I really wanted to spray it with my new dylusions ink spray but chose to layer it with the lagoon square.
Thanks for stopping by and looking at my blog today!

Rob's fathers day card & gift

A little late but here it is...

Rob loves to bike so when I saw this uninked stamp in the February 2011 kit of the month (from Unity Stamp)I knew it was perfect! I colored the balloons in with copics, used some scraps for the background papers, added some ribbon and buttons.

And his special gift was these great photo frames for his office desk at work.

I bought the frames for $1.50 a piece at Michaels. Painted the edges and backs a dark choc brown. I then cut some discounted SU paper and mod podge to adhere it to the wood frames. Once that had dried I applied old olive and chocolate ribbon SU and some the felt leaves CTMH.

I love the way they turned out!
